Tee Ball Softball

SCLL T-Ball Division offers a fun, instructional league for players who are either new to the sport or still refining the basic skills. Tee Ball is a non-competitive program focused on fun, fitness, and fundamentals where players ages 4–6 are first introduced to the basics of softball . SCLL strives to provide a T-Ball experience focused on teaching the fundamentals of the game in a fun environment while incorporating a high level of physical activity.

All games are on Saturdays at Lower Potomac Park.One team practice per week on a weekday eveningTeam T-shirt and a hat is provided.

Parents provide glove, baseball pants, and cleats. Some parents may also choose to purchase a bat for their child to use, however the league will provide a few bats to each team.


Single A Softball





This level of play fosters continued skills development and a better understanding of the rules and nuances of the game.  Either coaches or a pitching machine will provide pitching to "A" players. However, player pitch may be intruduced during the season. 

The focus remains on the fun of playing the sport while more coaching attention is given to fielding, making plays, accurate throwing, proper hitting technique and preparing the player for player-pitch at the Minors level.

Little League-age 6 year olds are welcome to play A Softball if they have played one year of T-Ball. 








Minors Softball

Experienced 8 year olds through 11 year olds*.  Assessment is required. 

The Minors Division is a level of softball where a higher level of game understanding and ability is taught. Winning and losing are secondary to the essential goal of having fun and learning the game. Primary goals are to give players as much experience and playing time as possible while encouraging developmenting all phases of the game. This division of Little League emphasizes the standard rules of Little League softball to prepare players for Majors.  Pitchers pitch from 35 feet with an 11 inch ball. 

Players will be assigned to teams via a draft following player Evaluations.

* League Age 8 year olds who attend Evaluations are eligible to play in the Minors division and may be drafted to a Minors team . If they are not drafted by a Minors team, they will be placed on a Single A team.  If you would like your 8 year old to be considered eligible for a Minors team, please contact our the Player Agent at [email protected] with any questions.

*League Age 10 and 11 year olds who attend Evaluations are eligible to play in the Majors division and may be drafted to a Majors team.




Majors Softball





This division is for those who have mastered the Minors level and are ready for the most advanced level of Little League softball. The most common ages are 11 and 12 (based on the players age chart), although 10 year olds can play Majors depending on assessments and other demographic considerations. The emphasis remains on improving softball skills, building individual self-esteem, promoting team camaraderie and sportsmanship. The division is designed to be balance fun with preparation for higher levels of play and readiness to play in the teenage divisions. Pitchers pitch from 40 feet and use a 12 inch ball. 

Majors Softball is a drafted division. An assessment is required. Age 10 and 11 players not drafted by a Majors team will be placed in the Minors draft. 




Juniors Softball

This division is for those who have mastered the Little League Majors level and are ready for the most advanced level of Little League softball. The emphasis remains on improving softball skills, building individual self-esteem, promoting team camaraderie and sportsmanship. The division is designed to be balance fun with preparation for higher levels of play and readiness to play at the high school level. 

The Seniors division is perfect for experienced middle school players, players new to softball, as well as high school JV players and middle school travel players who want to get  some extra playing time during their high school season.  High school players are also eligible to participage in the Little League All-Stars tournament if they register prior to the season. Pitchers pitch from 43 feet and use a 12 inch ball. 

Since the division is designed to include high school JV players, most games are Saturday double headers with weekday practices for those not playing high school.
